Old Baltimore Pike Bikeway

Goal

A safe continuous route for bicyclists (with pedestrian facilities where appropriate) that features visible branding and wayfinding elements that unite the entire corridor along Old Baltimore Pike.

Progress to Date

This project was recommended by the Chester County Planning Commission as part of their Circuit Trail Feasibility Study in 2021. The County has proposed municipalities conduct a multi-municipal master plan for the Baltimore Pike Bikeway, because holistic and multi-municipal approach is needed to develop a unified facility that is safe, user-friendly, and can be implemented strategically and managed effectively. The next step will be for municipalities along Old Baltimore Pike to secure funding to develop a master plan for the bikeway.

Facilities

The project will involve different pedestrian and/or bike facilities along the entire corridor, including on and off-road facilities, shared use, etc.

 Who’s Involved?

The Chester County Planning Commission and municipalities and local organizations in the Old Baltimore Pike corridor, from Schoolhouse Road in East Marlborough to Nottingham Township.
